YOUNG JAPANESES (YOUNG AMERICANS)

デビッド・ボウイの「YOUNG AMERICANS」にのせて、戦後日本を考えました。

.

This movie is a work of art combining David Bowie’s song “YOUNG AMERICANS” with photographs of Japanese people after the end of World War II. This is an homage to the end credits of Lars von Trier’s films “Mandalay” and “Dogville”.
The Japanese who appear are diverse, including entertainers, artists, politicians, religious figures, and criminals.
This work transcends ideology. However, this work contains a satire and irony about the fact that Japan has existed like a vassal state of the United States since 1945. The fact that the names are written in romaji expresses Japan’s ambiguous position.
“Do you remember President Nixon” Shinzo Abe is projected,
“Do you remember the bills you have to pay Or even yesterday” shows the young man who assassinated Shinzo Abe.
They are all made up of images from the internet.
